OUR MISSION

The Keiki Makers Market's Ambassador Program empowers and elevates seasoned student entrepreneurs by allowing them to take on leadership positions within the wider KMM program. Harnessing the power produced when ambitious and creative minds come together, ambassadors collaborate to cultivate a community in which student entrepreneurs can connect, learn, and thrive in their respective journeys.

OUR ORIGINS

The Keiki Makers Market was founded in 2023 by then high school senior Taylor Yuen to provide prospective student entrepreneurs with the tools to grow as both business owners and lifetime leaders. After graduating, Taylor wanted to preserve the "lead by example" leadership style present in the program and, thus, initiated the Keiki Makers Market Student Ambassador Search. Through the program, ambassadors drive innovation and inspire the next cohort of creators by bridging the gap between aspiration and achievement.

"During my time as a SA, I hope to expand the KMM to more creative keiki entrepreneurs and do the best I can to ensure all vendors are able to gain valuable business experiences that accelerate their businesses!"

MY KMM STORY

After launching my small business last year, I was searching for various sorts of markets that I could participate in and explore to see what market my designs fit in best. I discovered the Keiki Makers Market through Punahou School, and I was excited to participate in my first official market as a vendor. To my surprise, my first experience at the KMM turned out to be a resounding success. I not only achieved impressive sales figures but also gained valuable insights into my passion for sales and marketing. I have continued to participate in every market since, and it has been interesting to meet other vendors and their unique products. Participating in the KMM is truly a wonderful way to start out your small business and understand your market audience better!

As I have been participating in the Keiki Makers Market for a while, I became interested in exploring different ways in which I can help and support the KMM. After Taylor launched the KMM Student Ambassador program, I was thrilled to further explore this opportunity and gain valuable experiences in leadership and management. So far, being a Senior Student Ambassador has been really interesting as I have been able to see, assist, and manage various aspects towards creating successful markets for the KMM.

MY ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Throughout my years in high school, I have gained a lot of entrepreneurial experiences through my small business, Tofuboo Studio. Tofuboo Studio is a stationery and design business which focuses on providing art accessibility to children in Oahu. Our featured products are stickers and coloring books that contain cute cultural and punny designs! 20% of our profit is dedicated towards creating art sets for the children, consisting of various art supplies and handmade coloring books. Most recently, we have donated $200 worth of art supplies to the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children! As of early this year, we were able to donate 150 coloring books to elementary school students and pages to the Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center. Overall, during my time as a SA, I hope to expand the KMM to more creative keiki entrepreneurs and do the best I can to ensure all vendors are able to gain valuable business experiences that accelerate their businesses!

"I hope to help KMM to grow and add more publicity so that every child can feel the excitement when someone purchases something."

MY KMM STORY

When I first found out about the Keiki Makers Market program, I was enthused about an opportunity to share my work as a student entrepreneur since there aren’t many events to do that are designed for young entrepreneurs with a student budget based vendor booth price. Selling to the public felt like the step I needed to take my business to the next level. I continued to participate because the KMM helped me to gain confidence and take a sample from what the public wants from my business. I also love seeing the look on children’s faces when they see something of mine that lights up their face. Following my first KMM event, I was so happy to have had such successful sales and have learned a lot about myself as an individual and as a business owner through the process. This event gave me the confidence I needed to continue and I wanted to do the same for others.

As your Junior SA, I look forward to connecting with all of the KMM members I meet and being available as a resource to you on your journey as a student entrepreneur as I’ve been there before! Not only do I hope to be a part of this program, but make it better too. I hope to help KMM to grow and add more publicity so that every child can feel the excitement when someone purchases something.

MY ENTREPRENEURSHIP
